Police said officers were called to the scene around 5:38 a.m. after reports of a family disturbance with one person possibly armed.

AUSTIN, Texas — A SWAT team is on scene at a home in East Austin on Sunday morning.

According to the Austin Police Department, officers are responding to a person barricaded near a home in the 2200 block of Castro Street, off North Pleasant Valley Road.

Police said officers were called to the scene around 5:38 a.m. after reports of a family disturbance with one person possibly armed. A man then barricaded himself inside a vehicle.

SWAT was called in to negotiate and nearby residents were evacuated, APD said. SWAT, the APD Bomb Squad, the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS all responded to the scene.

Officers said they have located what they believe could be a gun.

People are asked to avoid the area.
