Luis Palma is a player who has divided Celtic fans ever since his arrival at the start of last season – and a social media post made by the Honduras star on Saturday night may have alienated the winger from some sections of the Parkhead support even further.

Despite impressing in the recent international break – where he scored twice for his country against Mexico – the 24-year-old was omitted by Brendan Rodgers for the clash with the Jamboss at Tynecastle. The Hoops triumphed 4-1 to open up a three point lead over Aberdeen at the top of the Premiership table.

And Palma appeared to take that snub personally, by taking to Instagram to show fans that he wasn’t even interested in watching the game. While Celtic did battle with Neil Critchley’s team in the capital, the wide man posted a image on his Instagram story of him instead tuning in to the Copa Sudamericana meeting between Argentine side Racing Club and Brazil’s Cruzeiro.

Hoops fans were quick to notice the post and despite later deleting it, Palma’s actions had some diehards less than impressed. One supporter took to X to write: “Luis Palma sitting in the house trying to make it all about him”, while another added: “Now deleted, total wee guy stuff”.

Palma’s post was later deleted

It comes just days after Palma – who the Parkhead club had reportedly knocked back bids for from sides in France and Germany last summer – had declared his willingness to work harder in order to play more minutes under Rodgers, having made just six cameo appearances for Celtic so far this season.

He said: “Yes. Work, there is no choice but to work and to keep looking for opportunity.”
