Brilliant brews will now be served up at Airdrie Academy as the school unveils its Cafe 175 facility.
With the help of local businesses, pupils are offering a full barista facility for their fellow students and staff.
The exciting addition forms part of the school’s 175th anniversary celebrations.
Head teacher Martin Anderson told Lanarkshire Live: “We are delighted to have had significant sponsorship from Albert Bartlett, Airdrie Taxis, Level Consultants and our own parent council to support us with the resources required to begin our journey into providing a school barista service.
“Our young people have been incredibly enthusiastic throughout their barista training and helping us plan what Cafe 175 would look like; they all deserve huge credit.
“This welcome addition to the school is being enjoyed by staff and pupils every day at morning break and lunchtime.
“The cafe is equipped with coffee tables and chairs, very kindly donated by McMillan Task, and signage and menus donated by the generous team at Hellcat Designs.
“The cafe has become a new social space for pupils and staff to meet and talk, and our barista team of senior pupils and staff run a very slick operation.
“Cafe 175 has become its on business enterprise, with the profits made supporting reordering of stock and the school fund.
“Pupils will receive a level 5 SCQF barista qualification which recognises their success in training and customer service.
“A special thanks goes to Mrs Clelland for all of her incredible leadership and passion in making the idea of Cafe 175 to become a reality.”
