A horrifying video shows the moment residents in a small town fled the streets as floodwater from Storm Bert crashed towards them.

The storm caused chaos across much of the UK on November 23 and November 24. Many homes were submerged underwater during the storm and roads became waterlogged. Winds also battered parts of Britain, reaching speeds of up to 82mph.

The town of Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire faced a nightmare when a flood wall crumbled, sending water from Kyre Brook crashing into the city centre. Businesses were left soaked and residents were forced to scramble for safety.

A TikTok video captured the moment showed a massive rush of water gushing through the town, generating over 1.4million views as locals, including a child, were forced to retreat from the approaching flood.

The clip shows the torrent toppling signs and surging past storefronts while a voice urgently advises: “Get back,” followed by another yelling: “Everybody get back. Move, move.”

Amidst the chaos, online users expressed their sympathy, with comments like: “Omg you poor people, so so sorry awful just before Christmas.” Another commented: “That’s why I have always, and will always, love at the top on a hill or cliff, that is my worst fear as a homeowner.”

Concern for those affected was evident as one individual added: “Hope everyone is ok.” Another wrote: “That’s so sad. Flooding is awful, hope everyone is okay. Glad these folks kept people away.”

One person expressed their sorrow, saying: “So sad, the power of nature. I feel for these people.”

Another chimed in with concern: “Wow, that’s so scary.” Someone else pointed out the dangers of water and noted: “Water is extremely heavy, and currents can be unexpectedly fast. You don’t want to literally be swept off your feet if you don’t need to be.”

The local fire brigade has urged locals to steer clear of the floodwaters, following the Environment Agency’s previous alerts about Storm Bert wreaking havoc in the area. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported in the town thus far.

A Met Office yellow weather warning is still in place in the Highlands today (November 25). “Further heavy rain combined with snow melt may lead to some flooding and transport disruption,” it reads.

The warning is in place until midnight tonight.
