Marvin Kaleta says Motherwell have shown they can respond to bad results already this season and backs them to do it again after “10 minutes of madness” in the defeat to Ross County.
The Steelmen suffered disappointment in Dingwall on Saturday when they went down 2-1 at Ross County, keeping them fifth in the table, but Kaleta believes this weekend’s clash with Hibs will provoke a response.
While the match may have beaten Storm Bert, many fans were unable to see their team in action due to the adverse weather.
And for those that did make it to the Highlands, it was a poor performance that greeted them with Motherwell managing a late consolation through Zach Robinson after a lengthy VAR check, in their first game back after the international break.
Rock-bottom Hibs are the visitors to Fir Park on Saturday and the Congolese defender expects a reaction.
The Wolves loanee said: “We’ve shown this season that we can bounce back from disappointment.
“We have Hibs at home next and it’s important that we now get ready for that game.
“[The Ross County game] is a tough one to take.
“We came with a plan to play football but you have to take the conditions into account and we had to change a bit how we wanted to play. I wouldn’t say we were flat, but wen there here and it was cagey.
“We suddenly found ourselves 2-0 down after 10 minutes of madness. We tried to chase the game after a slow start to the second half and, unfortunately, couldn’t get there in the end.”
Kaleta was frustrated by the amount of time it took to check the Motherwell goal in the 83rd minute, which contributed to the 11 minutes of stoppage time that were played at the end of the game.
But he felt the break killed their momentum at a time they believed they could salvage something from the game.
He added: “We get our goal and then there’s a 10 minute break and it’s hard to get yourself back in the game.
“The sports scientist is telling you to try and stay warm, but it took longer than I thought it would. But these are just things you have to accept.”
A busy period awaits Motherwell with the Hibs clash quickly followed by a midweek trip to Dundee on Wednesday, December 4.
