North Lanarkshire Council has been granted an extension to a temporary road closure concerning Newmains Main Street.

The work on the A73 Main Street was due to run from September 30 to December 1. However, the council has been granted an extension to continue the works until Sunday, December 22.

The first part of the closure will concern A73 Main Street from its junction with A722 Manse Road to its junction with School Road.

Vehicles on the north side of the closure should proceed via A722 Manse Road, A722 Cambusnethan Street, A722 Kirk Road, A721 Stewarton Street, A721 Wishaw Road, A71 Overtown Road and A73 Main Street. Vehicles on the south side of the closure wishing access to the north side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

The second phase will see the A73 (northbound only), closed from its junction with School Road to its junction with A722 Manse Road.

Work will then continue on the road from its junction with School Road to its junction with A722 Manse Road.

Finally, the works will be finished at School Road, from its junction with the A73 to its junction with Church Avenue.

Meanwhile, the council have also confirmed a temporary road closure in Tinto Crescent in Wishaw.

The closure will take place from December 18 to 20 to allow for Scottish Water manhole repairs to be carried out.

Vehicular and pedestrian access will be permitted where practical during the closure.

Vehicles on the south side of the road closure wishing to access the north side of the road closure should proceed south, west, north and east around Tinto Crescent.

Vehicles on the north side of the road closure wishing to access the south side of the road closure should proceed vice-versa.
