A fire in an MTA elevated subway relay room in Brooklyn knocked out a chunk of F train subway service to southern Brooklyn Monday, the Daily News has learned.
Trains were suspended in both directions between Church Ave. and Kings Highway shortly after 1 p.m., as FDNY responded to what FDNY officials called an “all hands” fire at Ditmas Ave. and McDonald Ave. on the elevated platform.
MTA spokespeople would not comment on the cause or location of the fire, but transit sources told The News that firefighters were investigating a relay room at the elevated Ditmas Ave. station as a possible source of the fire.
Power had been cut from the third rail while firefighting continued, sources said.
