Four men were arrested on Monday on suspicion of drunk and drug driving offences in Lanarkshire.
Officers carried out four separate vehicle stops in the county.
At around 2.40pm on Loch Brora Crescent, Coatbridge, cops carried out a routine stop on a vehicle and claim the the driver “smelled strongly of cannabis”.
A drug swipe was carried out and it is alleged the driver tested positive for cannabis.
A 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to a police office for blood samples and was later released pending lab results.
Then at about 3.30pm officers received multiple calls about a car “swerving all over the road”.
Officers located a vehicle on Tryst Road Cumbernauld and observed it to have accident damage.
A 43-year-old man was arrested and taken to a police office where blood samples were taken. He was later released pending lab results.
Later that evening, at around 6.15pm police carried out a stop of a vehicle on Airdrie Road and claim to have smelled cannabis.
A drug swipe was carried out and the driver allegedly tested positive for cannabis. A 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to a police office for blood samples and later released pending lab results.
Officers were then made aware of a possible drug deal taking place at Gartsherrie Road, Coatbridge, at around 10.25pm involving a van and a pedestrian.
Police attended and located a van. The van was searched and a small bag containing white powder was discovered which tested positive for cocaine.
A drug swipe was carried out on a 32-year-old man which allegedly tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. He was arrested taken to a nearby police station where blood samples were taken. The accused was later released pending lab results.
In a post on social media, Police Scotland said: “If you suspect someone to be drink/drug driving contact police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. You can also report anonymously through crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
