I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers were left in hysterics on Tuesday night as they claimed they spotted host Ant McPartlin’s ‘swipe’ at Dean McCullough.
In the latest instalment, contestants Maura Higgins and Jane Moore found out they garnered the most votes, making them the duo to take on the challenge of Fright At The End Of The Tunnel. When it came time to break the news, hosts Ant, 49, and Declan Donnelly made their entrance into the camp.
It was there that Ant delivered the line: “Dean the public have decided it’s not you.” It comes as Dean embarked on his sixth trial on Tuesday night after consistently finding himself tackling the feared Bushtucker Trials often with little to no success.
After learning he wasn’t doing another Trial, which would have been his seventh, Dean was left delighted as he started cheering with his campmates to which Ant quipped: “We’re as thrilled as you are Dean!”, reports the Express.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to spot Ant’s remark over the show change. One person said: “‘Dean, the public have decided it’s NOT you’ Ant: ‘We’re as thrilled as you are!!!’ #ImACeleb” followed by laughing emojis, another wrote: “The public have decided it’s not you Dean Ant ‘we’re as thrilled as you are’ #ImACeleb” with a laughing GIF, another put: “Ant: ‘Dean, it’s not you and I’m as thrilled as you are’ #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity” with a shocked laughing GIF while a different viewer added: “Ant: I’m as thrilled as you are Dean. Hahaha the sass #imaceleb.”
Ahead of the challenge, GK Barry was full of support for Jane saying: “This woman is going to sleep so peacefully tonight, she’s wanted to do a Trial since she got here and I know she’s gonna absolutely smash it.”
Conversely, Maura revealed her anxieties as she admitted: “I’m petrified, I just don’t want to let everyone down.”
As they made their way to the Trial site, Ant and Dec greeted them with anticipation. Noting their previous reactions, Ant commented: “You’re probably the screamiest bunch of celebrities we’ve ever had on this show!”
The presenting duo explained that the Trial involved two tunnels, one positioned above the ground and the other below. They described how the celebrity on the surface had to locate hidden code words within their tunnel and relay them to their underwater counterpart, who would then use these codes to unlock stars.
After some thought, Maura chose the above-ground route while Jane braved the submerged journey. With a time limit of 12 minutes to gather all 12 stars, the klaxon signaled the start, and Maura commenced her frantic search through the sand-filled sections for the elusive code words.
Nonetheless, as expected from the show, she was far from alone as accompanying her were creatures such as toads, lizards, and to Maura’s terror, spiders.
Jane faced a challenging time navigating the water tunnels, with her goggles fogging up and difficulties in keeping her head submerged long enough to retrieve the stars. Despite these obstacles, Jane and Maura managed to secure a commendable six out of 12 stars for the camp.
Their efforts didn’t go unnoticed as Ant and Dec commended them with: “That was a very, very tough Trial, so I think you did remarkably the pair of you, you should both be very proud.” On their return, an emotional Maura shed tears over her triumph over fear.
