Viewers of I’m A Celebrity were left gobsmacked as tensions appeared to hit a new high in the camp.
Presenter Dean McCullogh faced yet another Bushtucker trial last night called Jack and the Scream Stalk, which involved a beanstalk and a castle setup. Dean had his work cut out for him with 12 stars on the line, doubling as 12 meals for his fellow campmates, which he needed to nab in under 12 minutes.
The climb was fraught with peril as he thrust his hands into ‘hellholes’ whilst scaling the colossal beanstalk. At the top, Dean’s challenge required the assembly of a golden egg before advancing towards the ‘castle’, precariously perched above the jungle terrain.
Mid-trial, Dean confessed to his difficulties with grip and ultimately took a tumble from the wall, sacrificing two stars in the process. A rather uncomfortable moment ensued when Dean descended to face hosts Ant and Dec post-challenge, reports the Express.
After completing the trial and being suspended above the jungle, Dean apologised profusely: “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” only to be reassured by Dec not to worry as he had just set his personal record. “That’s alright, 10 stars, that’s a new personal best,” consoled Dec.
Returning to the clearing, he was warmly met with congratulations from both Ant and Dec, with Ant even revealing: “You even got a round of applause from us today,” leading to Dean’s playful response: “Next thing you’ll be following me on Instagram.”
Ant was quick to dismiss the idea with a definitive shake of his head. “No no that’s not going to happen,” he insisted, which appeared to cause a moment of offence for Dean before Ant followed up with: “Joking Dean.”
As the conversation shifted to the trial, Dec inquired about Dean’s experience, to which Dean responded: “I was knackered by the time I got to star three! ” However, he expressed his keenness to share the successful outcome with his fellow campmates.
The interaction didn’t miss the attention of viewers, setting social media alight with amusement. One fan commented: “Can anyone else see the tension between ant and dean it’s hilarious #ImACeleb,” while another observed: “Ant saying he isn’t following dean on instagram then realising what he said and having to say he’s joking #ImACeleb.” A third chimed in with: “Ant can’t stand Dean.”
Other reactions included one from a viewer who quipped: “Dean asking for an Instagram follow off Ant and getting burnt ‘that ain’t gonna happen,” and another who noted: ” Ant having to tell Dean he’s joking so the public doesn’t think he hates him.”
