On today’s programme, Christine announced: “Competing in the trial tonight is Maura and Jane everybody. Jane – her first trial,” which led Coleen to say: “I’ve been desperate for her to do a trial. I’ve used my five votes every night for her. She’s desperate to do one. She’s that way inclined – if she’s going to go that far, she wants to do it.

“Every night when they announce it, she looks genuinely disappointed that she doesn’t get picked. But, last night on the WhatsApp group, Kaye was hoping she wouldn’t have to face tonight’s trial because it’s water-based and she hates water. However, seeing a clip today of Jane swimming under water, I know she will give it her all. She’s incredibly strong.”

Co-star Janet Street-Porter chimed in with her take on camp dynamics: “I think it’s really tough to sit round the campfire and be someone who hasn’t done a trial. You feel like a second division. You feel like the producers are looking at you.”

Maura and Jane are set for a spine-chilling challenge ahead as they gear up for a brand new trial entitled Fright at the End of the Tunnel. In this daunting task, they’ll wade through water and encounter creepy crawlies in a bid to secure stars and fetch meals for the camp.

In a sneak peek of the impending trial, Maura comes face-to-face with an array of spiders and confesses, “Jane, I don’t know if I can do it. There’s an awful amount of spiders,” while Ant and Dec detail that she must push through to the subsequent chamber for Jane to continue likewise. The looming question remains: Will she manage it?
