Residents and staff at a Hamilton care home are celebrating after it was shortlisted for a prestigious industry award.
Abercorn House, on Low Waters Road, is among the six nominees for Scottish care home of the year at the Caring UK awards, taking place in Leicester next week.
The home has been nominated for “the inspirational ways the staff look beyond the residents’ physical and emotional needs, to provide care that truly enriches their lives”.
Staff are passionate about discovering residents’ life histories and aspirations, aiming to go on to provide meaningful experiences and which help them to achieve their goals.
Care home manager Rowena Alferos said the Abercorn community is “over the moon” to have been nominated, adding: “Enriching the lives of our residents lies at the core of everything we do and we’re enormously proud to be recognised on a national level for achieving this.”
The not-for-profit home is run by Sanctuary Care, and received a “very good” rating from the Care Inspectorate in an assessment earlier this year.
