Organisers behind the 2024 Santa Dash have revealed that the popular annual fundraising event will take place on Sunday, December 15, starting at Ayr Promenade (near Pirate Pete’s).

The event, which has been organised by Ayr Rugby Club, Ayr United FC and Ayr Cricket Club, will see hundreds of Santas dash the 5km route to Ayr Rugby Club’s home ground at Millbrae.

Participants can enter for fun or can use the event to raise money for worthwhile causes. This could be a local sports team, community group or charity. The most important thing is to take part and have fun!

Ayr Rugby Club Chairman, Brian Williamson said: “The Santa Dash is a fun event. We want to bring the whole community together for a fun event that can be used as a platform to raise money for good causes, this could be local youth clubs, sports teams, community groups or charities. The event is suitable for all ages and stages, you can walk, jog or run. Everybody is welcome!”

Ayr United MD, Graeme Mathie added: “Last year’s event was a great success despite biblical rain, we had nearly 200 runners and thousands of pounds were raised! We would like this year’s Santa Dash to be bigger and better.”

Entry to the Santra Dash is £5 for adults and £3 for children, which includes a free Santa Hat and a finishers medal.

All participants are free to raise money for their own causes, with the entry fee split between the headline charities, Ayrshire Cancer Support, The Ayrshire Hospice and Harbour Ayrshire.

Arrive from 11am. Start time is 12pm at Ayr Beach Park, Ayr Esplanade. The location finish is Ayr Rugby Club, Millbrae, Alloway, KA74PJ (Distance 5km).
