Customers are heaping praise on a hair product that not only leaves their locks ‘so soft’ but also helps them nod off, thanks to its soothing scent. Zen, which retails for £14.50 from Hair Syrup, is garnering glowing reviews for its trio of key ingredients believed to condition hair and elevate moods through aromatherapy.
Lavender, often used in sleep-enhancing products for its mood-boosting and stress-relieving properties, is the star of the show in this formula and is also credited with combating hair loss. Oat is included for its scalp-calming effects, as well as its ability to moisturise and increase elasticity in parched, damaged hair.
Hemp seed oil is added to impart shine and thicken strands. The product has received exclusively five-star feedback on the Hair Syrup website, with one customer commenting: “As soon as this advertised, I knew that I had to have it. I love lavender. This felt calming and smells amazing – it even helped me to drift off into a deep sleep. After washing it, it made my hair so soft that I couldn’t stop touching it.”

Another user remarked: “This blissful scented Syrup never fails to make me feel so relaxed, calm and quite literally Zen. The scent is reminiscent to a spa experience. I always feel to chilled after applying zen and later after washing my hair feels softened and refreshed. Also as someone who suffers from tension Headaches, zen is especially beneficial at relaxing my mind and easing my Headaches. Will repurchase for life.”
One pleased customer remarked: “I’ve had less hair falling out, softer and less frizzy hair, doesn’t make a major difference in growth, but it really does help the hair a lot. Also the scent makes me sleep well, which is not related to the hair but a bonus good enough to make me get it again”, reports Birmingham Live.
A fourth added: “Zen is my favourite so far, I have fine hair with a slight wave to it. My scalp has always had a tendency to be sensitive at best, to very irritated, flaky and sore at worst. Zen has worked the best for me, my head feels lighter and nourished and I don’t feel the need to continuously check my head. My hair looks healthier and as a result my natural texture is beginning to reappear.”
Though the Hair Syrup website boasts numerous positive reviews, some customers expressed their dissatisfaction on TrustPilot, where they shared experiences of scalp irritation, staining, or greasiness post-use.
One client posted: “After seeing this oil all over social media I finally gave in and bought the Growsmary oil. I’ve tried many rosemary oils over the years but the hair syrup one has extremely irritated my scalp. I’m now seeing a dermatologist to help fix the problem. I’ve never had this happen with any other oil before and always had a healthy scalp. I wanted to love this oil but unfortunately it didn’t work out for me.”
Another customer shared their disappointment: “I ordered the Rapunzel and have used it a few times and every time it has made my hair greasy after washing twice with shampoo. I haven’t noticed a difference in my hair health, thickness or growth and think I just fell for the hype. The application is annoying and doesn’t go on very well. I won’t be reordering and overall not happy as it’s made my hair greasy and really oily which I’ve never had an issue with before.”
Other hair products, such as Glaze Super Gloss (£15.99), have received positive reviews for leaving hair shiny. Additionally, Head and Shoulders has launched a leave-in scalp treatment, available at Boots for £9.99.
Zen is currently priced at £14.50 on the Hair Syrup website.
