A Scots woman captured the moment a brazen thief snatched her parcel from the doorstep.
The incident happened at around 6.15pm on Monday night in Morningside, Edinburgh, saw the prowler confidently open the garden gate before picking up the package and taking off – all filmed on her Ring doorbell.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, says the parcel was taken ‘not two minutes’ after it was delivered. She told Edinburgh Live: “I had the parcel stolen from my doorstep, not two minutes after it was delivered.
“The guy just opened our gate and helped himself. He knew the Ring camera was recording him and was not bothered by it. I want people to be aware and alert, I know it’s a busy delivery time with Black Friday Sales.”
Several incidents were caught on camera in Edinburgh and Lothians in recent years as Ring doorbell cameras have been rising in popularity.
In October, a balaclava-wearing intruder was chased off in Midlothian. The footage from a Ring doorbell showed the individual trying the door handle of a home in Easthouses. The homeowner was woken by a notification on his app before hearing the door handle being tried as he ran downstairs to scare off the intruder.
Footage showed a figure sprinting away from the home before hopping on the back of a motorbike accompanied by another black-cladded individual before speeding down the street.
Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
