A ‘security incident’ at Center Parcs Whinfell Forest caused an evacuation of holiday-makers.
Dramatic footage from the resort depicts alarms blaring post an evacuation instruction delivered to guests via the PA system. An on-site visitor described the situation as “a full evacuation” with staff “rushing everyone out of the building” during what he suspected was a “security incident”.
He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Currently a full evacuation taking place at CenterParcsUK Whinfell Forest due to a ‘security incident’. Staff running about panicking.”
He detailed further: “Shortly before an evacuation message was played over the speakers, all the electricity went out and the emergency lighting turned on. Staff then rushed everyone out of the building.”
Guests were later permitted re-entry to the premises. Located in Brougham, Cumbria, next to the A66 road, the holiday park experienced a brief disruption, reports the Mirror.
A spokesperson for CenterParcs relayed to the Mirror that they encountered a “very short power outage that affected the local area around Penrith this evening”.
