Fans of I’m A Celebrity have turned on “fake” and “useless” campmates as the first eviction of the new series looms.

Tuesday’s episode saw Jane Moore take on her first Bushtucker trial alongside Maura Higgins, with the pair winning six out of a potential 12 stars for the camp.

Although the Loose Women star appeared enthusiastic before the trial, fans were unimpressed by her performance, fuming that she “didn’t even try” while Maura was left to carry the team by herself.

The challenge prompted viewers to call for the Jane to be axed, with many taking to social media to voice their frustrations, the Mirror reports.

One fan tweeted: “Jane is a disgrace letting Maura go through all that just to pick and choose which ones she wants to do. She didn’t even try! And to think she wanted to do a trial!”.

Another posted: “Begging to do a trial since she started and can’t be fu**ing a**ed to do half of it??? What a sad little life Jane,” while a third added: “Maura fighting for her life while Jane just has a leisurely swim.” One simply stressed: “Jane needs to go, I’ve had enough.”

Jane was not the only celebrity to draw criticism from fans, with many pointing to Dean McCullough as the candidate who most deserved to be sent home.

“If I could make the decision now I would vote Jane & Dean [McCullough] out #imaceleb,” concluded one viewer, and another agreed: “So done with Jane and Dean to be honest.”

The backlash comes after all the campmates took on the Fright Bus, which saw them brave a horrifying swarm of bugs like cockroaches, mealworms and spiders to win some personal belongings for the camp.

But while the celebrities screamed at the sight of the insects, some viewers noticed a suspicious reaction from Dean. In a dramatic change from his usual “overdramatic” approach to challenges, the radio presenter was quiet and composed.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ has developed a reputation for shrieking his way through gruesome Australian ordeals, having participated in the most trials and even quitting two early.

“Dean seems very calm and happy in the fright bus… He’s grinning and not screaming. I guess it was all just fake after all,” one fan tweeted.

Another noted: “Dean is extremely calm for someone who has spent the past week screaming during trials,” while a third echoed: “Weird how there’s bugs falling and spiders around but Dean is laughing and smiling? Not shouted once…”

Explaining the curious change in Dean’s behaviour, a fan wrote: “No sound from Dean shows he was faking it, praying he will be the first one out.”
