I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! enthusiasts reckon they’ve sussed why Jane Moore might be at the heart of recent camp strife.
The Loose Women panellist had managed to steer clear of drama since her arrival on the ITV reality show last weekend. However, during Sunday’s (November 24) episode of the show, Jane seemed perturbed.
This followed the appointment of ex-boxer Barry McGuigan and McFly’s Danny Jones as the new camp leaders by popular vote, their first task being to reassign chores among their fellow campmates.
The atmosphere in the camp became tense after Jane aged 62, and Tulisa Contostavlos from N-Dubz, who is 36, were tasked with kitchen duties. Upon learning of her chore, Jane questioned: “Is that because we’re women?”
Barry, the former Irish sportsman, refuted any suggestion their choice was gender-based, explaining: “We were looking at you for possible water, and I thought that you’re 62 years old, you’re a year younger than me…” But before he could elaborate, Jane accused him of being “ageist and sexist”.
Jane had earlier expressed to Danny a wish not to be put on cleaning duty, which he misunderstood, believing she actually wanted to take on the job. Amidst the tension, BBC Radio 1 host Dean McCullough made a half-hearted attempt to get the campmates to supportively chant “we stand with Jane”, to which Barry snapped: “Don’t start that nonsense. We didn’t know that Jane was going to be upset.”
Jane remarked: “I have emptied the dunny, tended the fire on my own solidly for nine days, and you’ve given me the one job I don’t want,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
When questioned about her preferred task, she responded: “No, it doesn’t matter.” Tulisa confided in the Bush Telegraph: “Slight rumble in the jungle. Not everyone was happy with that. I didn’t mind doing the dishes.”
At dinner, the new camp leaders appeared downcast, and upon enquiry, Barry admitted: “We don’t like upsetting people, we genuinely don’t.”
Jane consoled Barry, claiming she was “only winding him up” but later, while washing dishes, she mused: “Seems much like the 1950s.”
However, ‘I’m A Celeb’ enthusiasts were quick to weigh in on her behaviour. While some viewers believe they understand why she caused a stir, others predict she’s marked herself as the first to be eliminated from the camp, inadvertently saving Dean who was previously thought to be the likely first departure.
One fan tweeted: “Jane wants to do a trial and her behaviour tonight will probably get her one. Clever tactics #ImACeleb.”
A second commented: “Well Jane really wants to do a trial so maybe this will get her what she wants #ImACeleb.”
Another observed: “I think Jane has secured herself to be the one to do the trial tomorrow! #imaceleb.”
Social media user @drugforangels shared their thoughts, tweeting: “Anyone else think jane had that little paddy in hopes of getting votes for the trial? she clearly wants to do one and probably knows she’s not getting airtime bc of drama queen dean #ImACeleb.”
While a fifth viewer voiced their prediction: “#ImACeleb I think Jane has just sealed the vote for being first out.” @Marknevard2 expressed a similar sentiment, saying: “Jane just got her ticket for first one voted out. Throwing the sexist card.. .#ImACeleb.”
