I’m A Celebrity’s Coleen Rooney aimed a cheeky dig at her husband Wayne back home, after she made a rare admission about his new role as the former England striker has since moved into management.

The ex-Manchester United forward lifted a dozen trophies as a player before hanging up his boots. He has had a tougher time since moving into the dugout.

He began his managerial career in 2020 with Derby County, while he has also had spells at D.C. United and Birmingham City. He took over at Plymouth Argyle earlier this year, who currently sit just two points clear of the relegation zone in the Championship table.

Wayne’s current side have struggled for form all season and suffered some heavy defeats since he took the job including the 4-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday adding to the 5-0 defeat at Cardiff City while they most recently lost 6-1 to Norwich. The manager said that the club’s youth side wouldn’t have conceded so many goals.

During Wednesday’s episode of I’m A Celeb, (November 27), McFly star Danny Jones took the opportunity to quiz Coleen on her husband and his current role. He asked: “Is he loving managing?”

Coleen admitted that he does although they both find it tougher than when he was a player. She said: ” Yeah, he does enjoy it, it’s hard though. I find it more nerve wracking him being a manager than I did… I feel more pressure.”

Former boxing champion Barry McGuigan referenced the fact Wayne made his Premier League debut for Everton when he was just 16 years old, as he added: “Well, he was very mature very quickly wasn’t he, he grew up very quickly?”

However, Coleen cheekily replied about her husband: “Well, I don’t know about that!” which prompted a big laugh from the rest of the camp.

Viewers will wonder what kind of response Coleen’s comments will receive back home as they know Wayne will be watching. He has already appeared on companion show I’m A Celebrity Unpacked earlier in the series where he hinted he would write a poem for her return home and didn’t rule out appearing in the jungle in the future himself one day.

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
