Lindsay Lohan’s latest festive film has just landed on Netflix, signifying her third project with the streamer in two years.

Launched on November 27, Our Little Secret follows the convoluted tale of former flames Avery (portrayed by Lohan) and Logan (played by Ian Harding) who are unexpectedly reunited over the Christmas holiday when they learn their current partners are related.

Despite having a formidable reputation from classic comedies such as Mean Girls and The Parent Trap, Lohan’s more recent ventures into film have left her fanbase polarised some viewers have even described them as “dreadful.”

As fans settle down to watch the 38-year-old’s new movie, reactions to her previous romantic escapades on Netflix have been mixed.

In Falling For Christmas, we witness Lohan’s comeback to acting after a brief intermission. The plot revolves around Sierra Belmont (Lohan), a hotel heiress who suffers amnesia following a ski accident and winds up in the care of an attractive lodge proprietor, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Co-starring with Glee actor Chord Overstreet, the film had garnered much enthusiasm from their respective followers.

Yet post-release, audiences were split. Rotten Tomatoes critics gave the comedy a respectable 62% freshness score, noting its cosy and festive vibes.

However, audience feedback wasn’t as generous. A disgruntled viewer rated it at half a star, commenting: “It doesn’t work on any level (acting, directing, script…).”

Another viewer echoed similar sentiments, conceding that despite its flaws, the film was still enjoyable. They said: “Horrible but so bad it’s funny. Has enough heart-warming feel good “Christmas” vibes to keep it entertaining.”

A different fan penned: “Predictable but heart-warming. A great holiday feel-good movie!”

Irish Wish

In a return to her Freaky Friday roots, Lohan starred in a fantasy comedy titled Irish Wish.

The plot revolves around Maddie, a bridesmaid secretly smitten with her best friend’s groom-to-be. Taking destiny into her own hands, she wishes for ‘true’ love and wakes up having switched places with the bride-to-be, only to realise her crush was misplaced.

Despite receiving a mediocre average rating of 1.9 stars on the movie app Letterboxd, the film faced severe criticism. However, Lohan’s performance managed to win over fans.

“If Lindsay Lohan is involved….I’ll be watching, even if it’s another bad Netflix romcom,” one reviewer declared.

Another chimed in: “One of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, loved every minute of it!”

Meanwhile, IMDB reviewers didn’t mince words when criticising the film. One disgruntled viewer stated: “Dreadful if you find a copy of this movie, send it to someone you hate.”

They humorously added: “Ireland should declare war on all those involved in this awfulness.”
