(Gray News) – TV personality Wendy Williams’ battle with dementia has advanced, according to reports.

According to People, documents show that Williams’ court-appointed guardian now says the 60-year-old is “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and legally incapacitated.”

The former talk show host’s court-ordered guardianship began in April 2022 following her ongoing health issues that include Graves’ disease, lymphedema and alcohol abuse.

In February of this year, Williams’ medical care team announced she was diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

“Aphasia, a condition affecting language and communication abilities, and frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder impacting behavior and cognitive functions, have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy’s life,” her care team said in a news release.

At the time of the announcement, her care team said the diagnosis had “already presented significant hurdles in Wendy’s life” but that she maintained her “trademark sense of humor.”
