CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) – A man is facing charges after authorities in Oregon say he kidnapped a girl near an apartment complex early Monday morning.
According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called for a report of a kidnapping at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Southeast Roethe Road at around 2 a.m.
Deputies said an 11-year-old girl told them that she was walking around the complex when a man grabbed her and placed her into a red pickup truck.
The girl said the man drove her a short distance before stopping near some homes where she managed to escape and run home. Her mom then called 911.
The sheriff’s office says deputies located the red pickup truck and the man who matched the girl’s description nearby.
After interviews and an investigation, 47-year-old Felipe Hernandez Martinez was arrested and booked into the Clackamas County Jail for second-degree kidnapping and harassment. He was being held on $250,000 bail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities said if anyone has further information regarding what happened they can contact the sheriff’s office tip line at 503-723-4949.
