Commentator Rory Hamilton reckons that Rangers could have a STREET named after them following their rout in Nice – just like the French city did for the Scotland rugby team.
The Premiership side ran riot in the Europa League clash as Philippe Clement‘s side shrugged off their domestic struggles to blow the Ligue 1 side away and take a massive step towards the knockout stages of the competition. The scintillating performance had both Ally McCoist and Hamilton purring on commentary with Hamza Igamane’s first half strike – the third of the night – sparking some bold claims by the TNT Sports duo.
During the Rugby World Cup the Promenade Des Anglais was temporarly renamed for the arrival of Gregor Townsend’s side. Hamilton claimed: “You know, this was mooted around this time last year during the Rugby World Cup when they renamed the main street along here which is called the Promenade Des Anglais.
“They then called it the Promenade Des Ecossais and I think they’ll have to again tonight.” Jubilant Ibrox hero McCoist added: “Oh, I love that.”
