Ferry sailings from Troon to Brodick are set to return to normal tomorrow (Friday, November 29) after a day of cancellations.
CalMac have confirmed that repairs to the MV Alfred will be made overnight following a technical issue with the catamaran’s gearbox.
No sailings from Troon to Arran were made on Thursday, November 28, following the issue and passengers have had to divert to Ardrossan instead.
Technical issues with the MV Isle of Arran, which operates on the Ardrossan to Brodick route, mean the passenger lift will be out of use and customers requiring use of the lift are being asked to sail from Troon instead.
Weather conditions in the Firth of Clyde could see cancellations from Ardrossan due to strong winds and passengers are being urged to check ahead.
A spokesperson for CalMac said: “Due to a technical issue with MV Alfred’s gearbox, the Troon-Brodick service has been cancelled.
“Repairs will be carried out this evening and service is expected to operate as normal on Friday, November 29.”
Of the Ardrossan to Brodick route, they added: “Due to strong easterly winds forecast this service will be liable to diversion, disruption or cancellation at short notice.
“Please be advised that the passenger lift on board MV Isle of Arran is currently out of service until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“Passengers requiring lift access are asked to travel on MV Alfred on the Troon-Brodick service where possible.”
