With only a few weeks left until Christmas, many are in full swing with their festive preparations – from planning travel to buying gifts. A crucial part of the holiday season is ensuring your home exudes that warm, festive charm.

The right decorations can transform your space into a cosy winter wonderland, with a dazzling Christmas tree as the centrepiece. If you’re on the hunt for a new artificial tree this year, choosing the right one can be a challenge, especially when they’re concealed in boxes at the supermarket.

Simply looking at the picture on the box may not give you an accurate idea of how lush your tree will look. However, a hidden symbol on the box can provide all the information you need, reports the Express.

This handy tip was shared on TikTok by Bobbie Jo while she was browsing the aisles of her local supermarket in search of the perfect tree. She revealed some ‘really good advice’ from her mum that could prove useful if you’re unsure about which Christmas tree to purchase.

On each Christmas tree box, you should always check the number of tips the tree has. Bobbie pointed out a tree with 1273 tips, explaining: “That’ll let you know how full the tree is without seeing it.”

She then indicated another 7ft tree, but this one boasted a much higher 3856 tips.

Bobbie confirmed she would ‘most definitely’ opt for this one, as it would appear much fuller due to the increased number of tips. She said: “That’s your little tip of the day for looking at Christmas tips.”

The tip has certainly struck a chord with many, evidenced by the video amassing an impressive 2.7 million views since its upload. Numerous viewers have expressed gratitude for the useful advice, with one individual asking: “But now I need to know how many is a good amount.”

Someone then responded: “Anything over 3000 is good depending on height of tree too… but the more the better!”

Another wrote: “Wish I knew that when buying a tree in Tesco last year. It’s 6ft and was €15 on clubcard price. It’s so sparse and about 5ft.”

A third commented: “Never even knew there were tip counts on the boxes.”

Meanwhile, another viewer appreciatively noted: “Omg thank you I’m literally getting my Christmas tree this year.”
