(CNN) – The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is coming to an end this weekend.

This year, the Atlantic Ocean Basin saw 18 named storms – 11 were hurricanes and five intensified to major hurricanes.

In July, Hurricane Beryl was the earliest Atlantic category 5 hurricane on record.

Beryl was followed by Hurricane Helene that made landfall as a category 5 storm on the Florida Gulf Coast in September.

Then, Hurricane Milton followed nearly two weeks later in October.

Milton made landfall as a category 3 near Siesta Key, Florida and produced 46 tornadoes.

The Atlantic hurricane season officially ends on Saturday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said the 2024 Atlantic seasonal activity finished within the predicted ranges for named storms and hurricanes.

On average, a season produces 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes.
