A light-fingered Scots couple have been caught in the act stealing people’s parcels in the run up to Christmas – while pushing a baby in a pram. They were captured on camera by a Ring doorbell outside a property in Glasgow earlier this week and a police probe is now ongoing to catch the crooks.
The CCTV footage shows the man opening a parcel and throwing the packaging into a recycling bin. He then took another parcel and walked off. Glasgow Live reports the woman, who is pushing a pram with a baby, follows his lead while they walk past homes in Keith Court, Partick.
She is then seen chucking the parcel into the basket of the pram before they both make off. A local resident, who did not wish to be named, was furious when she returned home to find her parcel had been nicked.
A number of items which were meant to be Christmas gifts for her son were stolen including t-shirts and a bluetooth speaker. The resident told Glasgow Live: “Usually, we can pick up a signal if someone is close but I never got it because my internet was down.
“They took someone else’s parcel, put the wrapper in my bin and then took mine. I looked back at the footage and couldn’t believe how callous they had been.”
It’s believed the couple initially stole a parcel from her neighbour before stumbling across her package and taking that too. She added: “You can see them open another parcel, they’ve taken the wrapper off and thrown it in my bin before taking my parcel.
“It’s terrible. I am disgusted and angry he has given it to her and she’s put it under the pram. I would urge communities and neighbours to look out for and support each other.
“Be more aware of what’s going on, if you see anything suspicious let other neighbours know.” In a direct message to the culprits, the local said: “You should be ashamed of yourselves. I know everybody has hard times but that’s not an excuse.
“There’s no consideration for anybody else but yourselves. What you are doing is totally wrong. How would you like it if somebody stole your kids’ Christmas presents? If the shoe was on the other foot, you wouldn’t like it.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On the afternoon of Tuesday, 26 November, 2024, police received a report of the theft of a parcel from the Keith Court area of Glasgow. Enquiries are at an early stage.”
