BANGOR, Maine (WABI/Gray News) – While most people generally have their favorite go-to restaurants, a Chick-fil-A in Maine sees one man far more than most.
“My wife and I are both workaholics. We work long hours and neither of us cook. So, we came to Chick-fil-A once, and we just loved it,” loyal Chick-fil-A customer Craig Mason said.
The restaurant’s owner said Mason visits the location almost every day – sometimes more than once a day.
“Craig has been one of our very favorite guests,” owner Todd Schultz said.
Mason said he loves Chick-fil-A’s grilled chicken salads.
“They’re just fantastic, and it’s become just kind of a central part of our of our day-to-day life,” Mason said.
Mason made his first visit to the Bangor Chick-fil-A about a year after it first opened in 2016.
A year later, he downloaded their app.
Since then, he’s used hundreds of thousands of loyalty points on his orders, over 500,000 to be exact.
“There’s annual recognition that you can earn levels in, and when we started noticing by the end of January, it already had all the points to reach to maximum level for the year. That was kind of a sign that we must be coming here a lot,” Mason said.
By accruing 500,000 points, Mason has joined a club of less than 200 very loyal Chick-fil-A customers.
“He’s like, ‘Hey, I’m approaching 500,000 points,’ and I was like ‘You got to be kidding me.’ And so, sure enough, I went into our systems, and he was. I was like, ‘Well, we have to do something to recognize him,” said Schultz.
He and his wife were invited to the restaurant Monday where they were presented with a plaque.
He hung it in his home office where he spends a lot of time working as a professor.
“It’s funny. I’ve kind of often wondered about getting recognition for my research or scholarship. I never thought it would be for eating chicken,” Mason said.
Mason said the food, but also the friendly service, is a big reason why he and his family keep coming back.
