Annan Town Band has added to its trophy haul by winning outright the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association Entertainment Contest held in Innerleithen.
The Dumfries and Galloway musicians wowed the judges with their programme, Origins, which featured works from centuries ago which went on to inspire new musical pieces – including 19th Century Russian folk tune, Korobeiniki, which has since been used as the theme tune for 1980’s video game, Tetris.
Their amazing short concert performance against 14 other bands was led by musical director Andrew Warriner.
The band had more reasons to celebrate when their principal euphonium player, Jamie Bryden, won best instrumentalist.
Annan Town Band – in the last contest of their competition season – also won Best Bass Section and Best 2nd Section Band.
