Christmas came early for Aldi shoppers who managed to snag the viral 5 in 1 Hair Styler on Thursday (November 28). Included in the latest wave of Black Friday products is the much-anticipated Visage Hair Styler, which sold out within hours at several stores.

Despite its £49.99 price tag, which some have suggested is higher than typical Aldi prices, the Visage 5 in 1 Hair Styler offers significant savings compared to other multi-stylers. For instance, the Dyson Airwrap i.d. multi-styler and dryer, often hailed as one of the best due to its innovative technology, retails at a staggering £479.99.

While I’d love to try the Dyson version, I can’t justify spending that much on a styler, so I can’t compare it to Aldi’s more affordable offering. However, I can share my experience with Aldi’s styler – and why I believe it’s worth every penny for hair that looks professionally styled.

Thanks to my grandad, who kindly volunteered to scour the shops while I was at work, I was fortunate enough to get one. He chose the Grey/Rose styler (there’s also a Champagne colour), and my initial impression was positive.

There are two speed settings, three temperature levels (60°C, 80°C and 95°C), plus a cool shot to set curls, and the five attachments feel solid and durable. You also get a three year warranty for the product, reports the Mirror.

Setting up the styler was simple once I watched a TikTok video demonstrating how to swap the attachments. The styling instructions were easy to follow too.

The attachments are designed to be used on damp hair, so I used the pre-styling dryer on my roots and I was ready to get started about ten minutes later. I quickly tried the two volumising brushes, which created a frizz-free finish on the few locks I tested, then I set to work with the curling barrels which are the real showstoppers.

As seen in various TikTok videos, the device wraps your hair around the barrel before drying and curling it. Once you get the hang of it, it’s sure to make curling a breeze.

As I’m still learning, it wasn’t the smoothest styling experience of my life, but I’m pretty certain I’m to blame not the styler. For instance, the top of my hair looked pretty fizzy after my first attempt with the curlers. I’ve since seen others with wavy hair recommend using the brush on your roots to combat the issue.

That said, I would have preferred a power cable longer than 180cm. There’s no plug socket in my bathroom, and the cable didn’t quite stretch far enough for me to use the styler in the mirror. As such, I had to sit on the floor and use my phone camera to see what I was doing.

Nonetheless, I think I’ll love the styler even more once I get used to it. As I’ve seen fellow shoppers say online, there’s a learning curve with these products. But for under £50, I’m thoroughly impressed. It’s just like having my very own personal hair stylist in my bedroom.
