A support group for people with dyslexia will be meeting next month.

Dyslexia Scotland West Lothian is one of a network of volunteer-led branches across Scotland.

They offer a range of information and advice about dyslexia, and their next meeting is on Thursday, December 5, at The Jim Walker Partnership Centre (Bathgate Partnership Centre) from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

The guest speaker will be author Alastair Chisholm, an award-winning author of picture books, chapter books about dragons and sci-fi for older kids.

His novel Orion Lost was shortlisted for the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Award, and Adam-2 was the Blackwell’s Children’s Book of the Year.

Reek is his first book with publishers Barrington Stoke, who aim to make reading accessible to all.

During this interactive event, Alastair will chat about science-fiction, guessing the future, ideas that haven’t changed the world, and what he believes is the greatest human invention of them all.

Everyone is welcome.

Tickets for this free event are available from TicketTailor at https://buytickets.at/dyslexiascotlandwestlothian/1471463 or by emailing [email protected]. It is aimed at eight to 14-year-olds and participants will get a chance to win copies of Reek, and other dyslexia-friendly books.

Alastair’s visit was made possible by Live Literature Funding from the Scottish Book Trust.

The West Lothian Branch of Dyslexia Scotland aims to provide advice and support for dyslexic children and adults and their families and those who work with them (including teachers and employers).
