A sex beast who attacked a woman in the grounds of a church in the early hours of the morning was jailed for seven years over the crime today. Sean Alexander Wyness pounced on the woman in the churchyard of St. Clement’s Scottish Episcopal Church in Aberdeen on May 15, 2022.
The 34-year-old was found guilty of the attack and returned to the dock on Friday, November 29, to be sentenced over the offence. Aberdeen Live reports at the city’s High Court he was handed a nine-year extended sentence, with seven years in prison and another two years under supervision.
Following his sentencing, Detective Inspector Ryan Morris praised the woman’s bravery in coming forward to report his offence. He said: “Wyness will now face the consequences of his despicable actions in prison.
“I would like to commend the woman for her strength in coming forward during the investigation and I hope today’s sentencing brings her some sense of closure and helps her move on from this traumatic ordeal.
“We would encourage anyone who has experienced any form of violent or sexual offence, regardless of when it happened, to report it to us. We will investigate thoroughly and have specially trained officers and partner agencies who will support you throughout.”
