LEWISBURG, W.Va. – A special day is set aside next week to urge people to donate to nonprofits that help residents all year long.

The United Way of Greenbrier Valley is asking for help on GivingTuesday, Dec.3, a day to encourage people to help their neighbors in need, wherever they may live.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 and has now spread around the world as a kickoff for the holiday season to inspire people to give back to their communities.

“Everyone has something to give, and every act of kindness elevates the soul of our community,” said Lauren Rainier, the United Way of Greenbrier Valley’s executive director.

Rainer said that the United Way addresses the issues of hunger, housing, health and financial stability within the Greenbrier Valley community and the special day helps bring awareness about these issues and the ways communities can come together everywhere to make an impact.

“We are excited and look forward to the support and engagement from donors and volunteers who share our commitment to making a difference within our community. We invite the public to ‘give where you live’ for the benefit of our 32 local partner agencies that do such important work within Greenbrier County,” Rainier said.

Donations can be made online at unitedwaygreenbrier.org.
