BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -Tickets for the film “Wicked” are defying gravity as they fly out of the box office.

The Historic Granada Theater and Raleigh Street Cinemas are currently having success with their showings of the new movie “Wicked”, an adaptation of the 2003 Broadway play.

“Upstairs when it was at the Granada theater, it would bring in about 200 people. It’s first two days over that weekly course, it was almost 500 people that came out. So we were very excited about that. Once it moved downstairs, we did a premiere on Wednesday night. It completely sold out,” says Debra Davidson, assistant manager of Raleigh Street Cinemas.

Employees with the Raleigh Street Cinemas says they have repeatedly sold out shows breaking capacity records.“We’re here for it. We’re here to serve. We’re here to just provide something. A respite from what’s going on out there. Just [to] give people a chance to enjoy something, a little piece of art that’s happening on the screen,” says Isaac Preston, Customer Service Representative for Raleigh Street Cinemas. For more information on show times, you can visit the Granada’s website.
