BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -Santa came a little early this year to visit with local kids at the Mercer Mall, and his friends at Uncharted Adventures gave him a memorable entrance.
Uncharted Adventures is new to Mercer Mall and provides customers with outdoor supplies, clothing, accessories and more. The store kicked off their inaugural parade for Santa and the big guy himself rode in style on a shiny new golf cart.“Really, it’s all about the kids. I can remember as a kid, the joy around me and all my buddies coming to the mall, seeing Santa, telling him what we want. So we wanted to bring that back and make it as magical as possible. We’re actually going to parade him in to the mall today, handing out candy canes, Santa hats, elf hats, whatever to have that joy back here,” says Chad Hutchens, owner of Uncharted Adventures.“It’s great for the community, for the parents to be able to bring the kids in. Just letting them be involved,” adds Candy Terry, Uncharted Adventure’s General Manager. After the parade, Mr. and Mrs. Claus greeted kids and treated them to goodie bags and photo opportunities. Participating kids say they’ve all been very good this year and are excited for Santa to come back on Christmas.
We asked the kids what their favorite part of the event was.
“Probably seeing Santa, and giving him a hug,” says Karson.
“Yeah, and sitting on his lap,” says Liarenity.
“Yeah, and getting the gift bag,” says Jaylynn.
When asked if they were excited for Christmas, all three excitedly exclaimed, “Yeah!”
Hutchens and Terry say they hope to continue the event in the future and were very happy with the turnout. The children attending were all smiles and their Christmas lists were submitted. For more information on Santa’s next visit to the Mercer Mall, you can check out their Facebook page.
