A longstanding monumental stonemasons in Lanarkshire has unveiled some welcome ways to save on funeral costs.

Family-run Stewarton Memorials, owner of the biggest memorial showyard in Lanarkshire, offers the headstone of your choice, complete with engraved lettering, for just £500.

And that’s not all. The firm also boasts a Price Promise Guarantee, so if you find a comparable service at a lower cost, it will beat or match it.

It’s all part of Stewarton’s pledge to offer fair and reasonable pricing for memorials, headstones, gravestones, and memorial plaques during what is already a very difficult time.

So it’s no surprise that the firm was ‘highly recommended’ in both the Best Memorial Company and Special Recognition categories at the 2023 Scottish Funeral Awards.

Spokesperson Emma Logan, daughter of company founders Robert and Elaine, explained: “Being able to honour the life of a loved one is incredibly important but many people are worried about how they can afford to pay in the current climate.

“Studies show that as many as one in six families faced significant financial worries over the cost of funerals during the last year.

“So it’s really important to us that, even if the price of our materials continues to go up, we’re still able to offer a monument at a very reasonable price that families can afford.”

Care, professionalism and compassion

Stewarton Memorials was started back in 1999 by Robert and Elaine Logan.

The couple’s many years of experience have been bolstered in recent times by children David and Emma, alongside her husband Callum, an on-site artist, and professional tradespeople.

The family strives for no less than a first-class service, one which would only be acceptable to a member of their own family.

Emma said: “As a family-run business, we really understand the importance of meeting our customers’ unique requirements and requests with the highest care, professionalism and compassion possible.

“We have a varied skillset so will use all of our relevant knowledge and experience to find the best solution for your situation.

“I think that’s why we’ve always inspired such customer loyalty – you can be sure that your loved one and your family will be treated with the same level of respect as if you were one of our own.

“My dad started as a stonemason when he was 16 so he has always stressed the importance of offering superior craftsmanship alongside our compassionate customer service.”

Stunning memorial showyard

To that end, Stewarton Memorials is home to the biggest memorial showyard in Lanarkshire which is open six days a week.

Many potential customers stop by for a visit in search of inspiration for the design of a headstone or memorial plaque.

Emma said: “We have more than 200 beautiful handcrafted headstones and memorial plaques constantly on display.

“Some people find the exact headstones they want, while others will incorporate ideas from existing memorials, headstones or plaques to augment their own ideas. No design or carving request is impossible.

“Either way, one of our helpful team members will be present to help guide you through the design process and make sure you are completely happy.”

Professional headstone restoration

Stewarton Memorials also offers a full memorial renovation and gravestone cleaning service, including headstone repair and restoration.

Emma said: “We have a team of professional headstone restoration specialists who follow a well-established process to assure top-quality service.

“First, we visit the cemetery to assess the memorial, allowing us to provide an accurate quotation of how much it will cost for headstone restoration, cleaning or repair.

“We’ll then explain the exact process to you and discuss any concerns you may have.

“Once the price and services are agreed on, all headstone restoration work, cleaning, repairs or additional inscriptions you request will be completed on-site in the cemetery. There’s no need to move the headstone from its location.”

Cherished for years to come

So trust the talented and compassionate team at Stewarton Memorials to bring your vision of the perfect memorial to life.

Emma concluded: “Many of our customers have found real comfort in creating a special place they can dedicate to their loved ones.

“I think it’s why we’ve built up such a strong reputation for beautiful, handcrafted memorials throughout Lanarkshire and the wider area of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“We aim to help get you through what is often a difficult period, as well as provide a lasting funeral memorial or headstone that will be cherished for years to come.”
