Rom-com fans looking for a feel-good flick to stream this festive season should look no further than one film that has been dubbed “really underrated” by fans.
Starring Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg and How I Met Your Mother’s Cristin Milioti, the romantic comedy is currently free to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription.
The movie in question is called Palm Springs and it only came out four years ago in 2020, meaning there are plenty of new fans still discovering it every day.
Samberg and Milioti play romantic leads Nyles and Sarah in what is essentially a quirky new take on 1993’s Groundhog Day.
The IMDb synopsis reads: “Nyles and Sarah find themselves stuck in a time loop and living the same day over and over again. They are drawn to each other, but certain revelations threaten their budding romance.”
The star-studded cast also includes Hollywood legend J.K. Simmons, Riverdale actress Camila Mendes and Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin. The film is directed by Max Barbakow, who also wrote the screenplay alongside Andy Siara.
Those who have already watched Palm Springs took to Facebook in order to recommend it to new viewers, posting in the group chat entitled Brooklyn Nine-Nine Addicts.
“I cannot express how much I love this movie,” the post read, accompanying various stills from the movie.
Taking to the comments, fans shared their appreciation, with one enthusing: “SAME!!!! I hade zero expectations and really didn’t know anything about it going into it, but after it was over I couldn’t stop thinking about it!! Loved it so much!!” (sic)
Another wrote: “It was surprisingly good, and introduced me to Cristin Milioti, since I hadn’t seen HIMYM until recently.”
“Btw, for those asking, it’s named Palm Springs and originally released on Hulu at the height of the pandemic. Definitely recommend watching it!” (sic)
A third person quipped: “Watched it several times, in fact every single day I wake up and I watch the movie again and again and again. Almost as if I’m stuck in some sort of time loop situation.”
“I’ve watched this at least 10 times. I love it so much!” another admitted, as one fan even went so far as to suggest: “It’s a better Groundhog Day movie than Groundhog Day.”
“Ya this movie is fantastic! I saw it when it first came out and I have rewatched it. Great movie,” yet another fan added, while one more stated: “Underrated movie. Had so much fun watching it.” (sic)
“It was definitely an overlooked gem,” a fan agreed, while another wrote: “There aren’t enough words to describe just how good this movie is.”
“This movie is so underrated! It’s so good!” yet another added, as one more penned: “Underrated comedy, no doubt.”
Palm Springs is available to stream now for free on Amazon Prime Video. Viewers must have an Amazon Prime subscription in order to use Prime Video. US fans can also watch on Hulu.
