An episode of Sunday Brunch has come under fire from viewers after multiple swear words were uttered during the family-focused morning show.
In accordance with UK broadcasting regulations, channels are expected to avoid airing strong language before 9pm, but viewers reported hearing offensive terms including “p***k” and “p****d”, leading to an immediate on-air apology.
Guest and cheese connoisseur Morgan McGlynn was showcasing her sumptuous cheese selections from her celebrated Muswell Hill shop when she accidentally said “p****d”. This prompted Tim to exclaim: “Language,” while Morgan earnestly apologised.
Addressing the issue, Tim remarked: “Why is everyone swearing this morning, can I apologise for Morgan swearing”, reports the Mirror.
Morgan had been describing how her business often sees customers queueing for more than an hour, and to enhance their experience, her team offers wine and snacks to those waiting. She went on to indicate that this generous gesture sometimes leaves patrons a little unsteady on their feet by the time they sit at the table, but unfortunately, chose a less-than-appropriate word to explain the scenario.
Meanwhile, viewers were certain they heard guest Phil Dunning use another expletive twice during the programme.
Taking to Twitter to rage about both incidents, one fan complained: “#sundaybrunch if someone swears on tv you don’t want them to do it twice which Tim encouraged him to do again.” Another added: “Everyone forgetting themselves and swearing #SundayBrunch.”
One tweeter observed: “He said p***k live twice #SundayBrunch,” while another lamented, “Poor Morgan… ‘p****d’ isn’t a swear word! Stop treating the viewers like children… @Channel4.” A fifth chimed in with: “Say sorry again #sundaybrunch,” accompanied by a yawning emoji.
Some viewers found humour in the incident, commenting: “Morgan Sweary Mary. I love her! Manchester Dad obvs. #SundayBrunch,” and another jokingly said: “Best bit on #sundaybrunch is, p***k, what p***k… p***k… p***k what p***k.”
Another sympathiser noted the impact on a guest: “Oh this poor cheese woman. The minor swear has really knocked her confidence, I hope she comes back on again #sundaybrunch.”
