If you’re slumped at your desk, already weary of the festive frenzy and daydreaming about jetting off in 2025, then perk up because we’re approaching one of the most wallet-friendly days to snap up plane tickets.

Securing a budget-friendly flight can often feel like a Herculean task, particularly if you haven’t managed to squirrel away as much cash as you’d hoped over the last year. However, there’s no need to abandon those holiday aspirations just yet, as one savvy traveller has revealed his secret to clinching an affordable getaway. It all hinges on seizing deals on ‘Travel Tuesday’.

“Get that holiday out of the group chat, it’s about time”, @two.islam urged in his video post, where he divulged tips on scoring remarkably low-priced flights.

“December the third, also known as ‘travel Tuesday’, is set to be the most cost-effective day of the year to book flights, with discounts of up to 40% off destinations worldwide,” he explained.

He highlighted that if you’re eyeing a trip to New York, for instance, this would be the ideal time to book, given the typically steep prices of flights there. In the comments, a flight attendant corroborated: “As a flight attendant, this is ‘true’! ” Queries arose about whether this happens “every year”, to which it was affirmed that indeed it does.

Further clarification was sought by users asking, “So book on Dec 3rd for any date, or does it have to be Dec 3rd? ” To which the response was clear: “Book on Dec 3rd for any date”.

One individual queried, “This would work if I got a holiday package”, only to be told, “No”, it’s flights only. So, for instance, if you’re attending a wedding overseas and just need to book a flight as all accommodation is sorted, it’d be the ideal day to secure your flights. However, some package deals may be on offer.

A man was left disgruntled, stating he’d “booked yesterday”, thus missing out on the deal. Sky Scanner suggests that “Travel Tuesday is the best day for savvy travellers to find great deals and plan their next adventure”, regardless of your plans.

Those who resisted the temptation of Black Friday could see significant discounts on flights, hotels and holiday packages on Travel Tuesday. With offers expected to be available for a limited time only, Travel Tuesday is an additional discount day that shouldn’t be overlooked if you’re certain about booking.

Ensure you check prices beforehand so you know you’re actually getting a bargain, set up price alerts, have a budget in mind to avoid overspending, and try to be flexible with dates and destinations if possible.
