Fans of Gavin and Stacy are going wild after a teaser trailer for the final episode of the show dropped on the BBC’s social media page.
It prompts the question about whether it will be a fairytale ending for Smithy and Nessa after the cliffhanger in 2019.
The finale will be broadcasted on BBC One on Christmas Day in a 90 minute episode, which will bring an end to the beloved sitcom after 16 years.
It’s been five years since the last episode, which ended on a cliffhanger with Nessa proposing to Smithy just before the credits, reports the Wales Online.
The BBC’s newly released teaser trailer revisits the final scene, with the caption reading: “The countdown is on! 24 DAYS until we find out.” The trailer returns at the point Nessa tells Smithy: “I loves you. With all my heart. So, will you marry me?” Smithy responds “What?” and Nessa asks again: “Marry me.”
Before fading to a black screen with the words “Find out….”
There is less than a month to go until we find out what happens next, but to some fans this is simply too long (after the five year wait).
One Facebook user said: “Please say yes Smithy.” Whilst another said “Can’t bloody wait.” Someone else commented: “BBC ONE just had an advert with the proposal and coming soon AHHHH! It’s happening.”
But not everyone was pleased with the trailer with another person commented: “It that it?? Well I’m bitterly disappointed.”

Joanna Page who plays Stacey Shipman in the series recently revealed that filming the final episode was an emotional rollercoaster, as she couldn’t stop crying on set. The star will bid farewell to her character after 16 years in the role.
She spoke to Woman and Home magazine, and confessed she felt “exhausted” from the emotional toll of finally saying goodbye, comparing it to a period of grief: “Saying goodbye to ‘Gavin and Stacey’ felt like grief. When I came home from filming, I was absolutely bloody exhausted! You’re saying goodbye to each location and person. I was crying from the second day.”
“All of us knew, ‘This is it’, and that’s why being back together felt so lovely and meant so much. It was like a big family reunion, and because I knew it was the last one, I wasn’t nervous because I wasn’t thinking, ‘Oh God, I’ve got to be good.'”.

She went on to reflect on the strong bond she shares with the show, saying: “I just wanted to be with everybody, have fun and say goodbye to my family, even though I’ll see them again! “
Joanna also confessed that no other role would compare to her time in Gavin and Stacy, expressing: “I was 29 when I started on ‘Gavin and Stacey’. No other job has ever affected me [as much] or will ever come as close as this job.”
