I’m A Celebrity aired a fresh instalment on Monday night, with the jungle camp’s numbers dwindling as contestants are voted off each evening. Sunday’s episode saw BBC Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough receive the fewest public votes, resulting in his exit from the show.

During Monday’s airing, viewers expressed their thoughts on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, suggesting that Dean’s departure didn’t leave the campmates particularly shocked.

One viewer remarked: “The campmates only describing Dean as a ‘big character’ and ‘a lot of energy’ is such subtle shade they don’t miss him at all, I love it! #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity.” (sic)

“Coleen: sadly Dean went Coleens face,” another added alongside a meme of someone with an insincere smile.”

A tweet also highlighted the camp’s supposed shock at the eviction, stating: “The camp being ‘shocked’ that Dean was the next to leave [gif suggesting feigned astonishment].” (sic)

Additional comments came from a viewer who wasn’t surprised by the eviction, noting: “Alan Halsall says it was a shock to the remaining camp that Dean McCullough was eliminated yesterday. It was certainly not a shock to us watching.”

Dean became the second person to be voted out after ending up at the bottom of the vote count, with Ant and Dec revealing the decision was between him and Barry McGuigan, as reported by the Express.

His stint in the jungle sparked controversy as he was repeatedly picked for the trials every night, leading to viewer fatigue. Moreover, Dean used the notorious ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ phrase and pulled out from his first two Bushtucker trials, causing his campmates to miss out on significant meals.

Dean gradually improved in the trials, securing nine stars out of a possible twelve. However, viewers grew weary of Dean being the selected one for the trials and started voting for other celebrities instead.

I’m A Celebrity continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
