Hamilton’s movie fans are getting in to the festive spirit as the town’s cinema will screen a series of Christmas classics and musical treats over the next month.
Vue Cinemas have a busy programme of “some of the most-loved holiday classics” in store – including a number of favourites marking milestone anniversaries this year.
The town-centre cinema also has a programme of music and ballet performances from renowned musician Andre Rieu and from the Royal Opera and Ballet.
Film fans can enjoy big-screen showings throughout December of The Polar Express, marking 20 years since the initial release of the tale about a young boy who goes on a magical adventure to the North Pole, and Christmas caper Gremlins, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Gizmo and the gang.
The latter film returns to the Hamilton cinema from this Friday, December 6 – the same day as How The Grinch Stole Christmas, while family favourite Home Alone and Christmas classic Elf are both already screening at the local venue.
Further additions to the festive schedule will be Love Actually and The Muppet Christmas Carol from December 13, then It’s A Wonderful Life and Home Alone 2 a week later.
Music fans can look forward to Andre Rieu’s dazzling Christmas Concert: Gold and Silver, described as a “winter wonderland under the sparkle of 150 chandeliers and 50 Venetian candelabras, bringing joy, warmth, and sparkle to the big screen”.
It will be showing from Saturday, December 7, while two productions from the Royal Opera and Ballet arrive on screen from December 10.
First cinemagoers will be able to see Cinderella, followed a week later by “ultimate Christmas classic” The Nutrcracker as Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker fight the Mouse King and visit the Sugar Plum Fairy in the glittering Kingdom of Sweets.
Vue Hamilton general manager Tracy Wanless said: “Christmas is all about spending quality time with friends and family, creating treasured moments to last a lifetime.
“We’re glad to be marking the merry occasion with a line-up of some of the most iconic Christmas classics, specially curated to for our customers to enjoy and help them get in the festive spirit ahead of the big day.
“There’s no better place to watch the likes of Home Alone and The Polar Express than the big screen, and we have a fantastic line-up of event cinema directly from the best theatres in the world.”
