Eminem’s rep confirmed to People that Nelson died Monday evening from complications related to lung cancer.
Nelson wrote a memoir in 2008 titled, “My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem,” where she said she grew up in a “large dysfunctional family.”
She was 15 when she married Eminem’s father and two years later in 1972, she had Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III.
Eminem and Nelson had a rocky relationship, but in 2013, the rapper released a song apologizing to his mother, saying he loved her and expressing regret.
