TV presenter and podcast host Fearne Cotton has openly discussed her forthcoming surgery to have two benign tumours removed from her jaw, shortly after her friend and fellow broadcaster Davina McCall spoke out about her own health struggles. Drawing support from her “bloody good mate” Davina, Fearne shared the personal news with her followers tonight.

Davina, known for her work on Big Brother, had a six-hour operation recently to remove a benign brain tumour.

Taking to Instagram, Fearne addressed her 3.9 million followers in a video: “I’ve got a benign tumour just in my jaw here, below my ear, another little tiny one above it. I’m very grateful they’re benign but they do need to come out because they’re on a nerve.”

She expressed that she plans to rest after the procedure to ensure a recovery before Christmas, though she admitted she isn’t particularly skilled at taking it easy. “So I’m gonna have that surgery, and then I’m gonna be resting to get better before Christmas. Not very good at resting, so wondering how that’s gonna go. But I’m feeling okay about it. I’m going into the operation feeling good and well.”

Fearne also assured fans that her podcast, Happy Place, would continue uninterrupted, reports the Mirror.

In the caption accompanying the video, Fearne wrote: “Hey gang. I’m going to be out of action for a bit due to a surgery. I felt a lump under my ear on my jawline a while ago now but this year noticed it was growing. Turns out it’s a benign tumour and another small one above it on the saliva gland. I’m feeling positive about it all and will take the opportunity to rest and slow right down.”

“If you feel a lump or bump or feel like something is a bit off, always go get it checked. I’m so glad I did as the longer you leave these things the more complicated things become. It’s obviously so weird that only a couple of months ago Davina told me about her tumour and then weeks later I was calling her having discovered mine. I’m not only lucky she’s a bloody good mate but also a beacon of light and positivity when it comes to this stuff. Sending you all loads of love and I’ll see you soon.”

TV presenter Davina McCall was quick to respond with warmth to Fearne, stating: “Sending you so much healing and love can’t wait to give you a huge gentle cuddle.”

And from the radio waves, BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball conveyed her support: “oh darling girl. be brave as and know you’ll be well looked after. all my love x.”

Comments have been restricted under Fearne’s candid post. In another update today, Davina shared more on her recovery journey following a six-hour surgery for a benign brain tumour removal.

At 57, the much-admired host of My Mum, Your dad underwent the surgical procedure earlier this month, removing a 14mm growth found during a routine scan at a menopause talk. Initially entering the scan confidently, expecting to “ace” it, Davina was shocked to discover the tumour.

She’s now sharing her recuperation process from home, acknowledging the immense support and love she’s received from the public.

In a heartfelt Instagram update, Davina McCall has shared her gratitude towards the medical team that saw her through brain surgery. She revealed how her partner, Michael Douglas, and her surgeon, Kevin O’Neill, were both taken aback by her initial post-operative confusion.

Davina praised Kevin, an experienced neurosurgeon who had previously tackled a colloid cyst this year, for his exceptional care. “Hi, I thought I’d do a little catch-up post, and I’m gonna out my surgeon. He is called Kevin O’Neill and he has been amazing. Obviously, trying to find somebody that knew about colloid cysts and stuff was quite a challenge, and Kevin is very experienced as a neurosurgeon, and he done another colloid cyst this year and he has been brilliant.”

She continued, acknowledging the concern she caused post-surgery: “He got the whole thing and I know I gave him and Michael a bit of a scare straight after the op because I was so confused, but I am doing so well now. I just wanted to thank him and all the team for taking such really really good care of me thank you. And, yeah I’m gonna take you and your Mrs out for an amazing dinner Kevin.”
