A PR boss has been praised by his staff after awarding them a Christmas bonus equivalent to one month’s salary.
The average bonus for employees at firm Stone Junction is worth £2,430 per person – and even workers who have recently joined the company will receive an end of year treat.
The bonus is calculated based on how much of the year you have been working at the company, so someone who has been there for the full year would get one extra month salary, while six months would earn them half a month.
Richard Stone, managing director of Stone Junction, which is based in Stafford, said the generous reward is to thank the 36 employees who work across the business for all their hard work, the Mirror reports.
Jessica Phillips, 30, an account director, has worked at the company for nine years and will use the money to pay for Christmas and save for her wedding day.
She said: “It’s a really nice recognition of all the work we’ve done this year. It will make a big difference. Everything is always more expensive at Christmas time, so it’s good to have the extra money in the bank. It will help toward Christmas presents and topping up my savings. I’m saving for a wedding.”
Courtney Cowperthwaite, 28, who has worked at Stone Junction for six years, is also saving to get married. She said: “I already know I can allocate a bigger portion to my savings than I would. It really takes the pressure off especially at this time of year when you have bigger outgoings.”
Generous boss Richard previously made headlines after giving staff a £1,000 bonus to cover their bills during the cost of living crisis.
He added: “At Stone Junction, company culture is at the heart of everything we do. Our success is built on the dedication and expertise of our team, and this bonus is a reflection of their hard work and the incredible results we’ve achieved together this year. It’s also a way of showing our gratitude and fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and appreciated.”
Brits are expected to spend £563.90 on average this Christmas – including food, gifts, decorations, socialising and travelling.
The festive period comes before energy bills are due to rise again. The Ofgem energy price cap is rising by 1.2% from January 1. This means the average dual fuel household paying by direct debit will see their annual bill go up from £1,717 a year to £1,738 – an increase of £21.
