Admitting that she spends much of her time at work, ITV’s Dancing On Ice judge Oti Mabuse revealed that she often battles ‘mum guilt’ for not spending more time with her family.
Speaking on the Netmums podcast, the professional dancer shared how she has adapted to life after becoming a mother for the first time last year.
With an action packed life, the I’m A Celeb contestant and former Strictly Come Dancing pro opened up about how she splits her time between being at home with husband, Marius Iepure and their daughter, and her time at work: “I do my bit, I do my work, but the one thing I always want to do is just head back to her and spend time with her and play with her.”
As she explained that she is always eager to return home to see her daughter, she confessed that there are two things in particular that she does to make up for ‘mum guilt’.
She shared: “We have fun, we play nursery rhymes, we read, we do bath time and I try to, probably out of mum guilt, make up for the time that I’m gone, with a lot of activity and snacks (laughs).”
With I’m A Celebrity set to conclude this Sunday (December 8), Oti will be eager to etch her name into the show’s history, by being crowned the 24th winner.
Meanwhile, during a recent discussion with fellow contestant Coleen Rooney, she shared her future family plans: “Eventually, I’ll have to give all of this up and just dedicate my life to them because I want to be there, I want to do the school run”, to which Coleen replied: “You can still be a strong individual, dedicating your life to that”.
Oti added: “I think there’s this preconceived notion that when you’re a housewife you’ve got no ambition,” while Coleen admitted: “I come across a lot of women who find it easy to come to work and find it hard being a mum.”
I’m A Celebrity airs every night of the week live on ITV at 9pm.
