In today’s world, quick internet speeds are incredibly important. Whether you are working from home, streaming movies and television, or video calling loved ones all over the globe, a strong broadband connection is critical.
And new research has named the areas in Scotland that have the slowest and fastest internet speeds. A recent study conducted by Broadband Genie has highlighted the 10 streets with the worst and best speeds in the country, respectively.
The experts analysed hundreds of thousands of tests to find where speeds are the lowest and highest. According to Broadband Genie, the street with the slowest internet speeds in Scotland is Turnberry Crescent in the Aberdeen suburb of Bridge of Don.

The experts found that homes on the Granite City road have average speeds of just 0.90Mb. Residents on Turnberry Crescent, which also features in the UK-wide bottom 10, would have to wait almost 15 hours to download a film in HD quality at that speed.
Following behind in second place is Kenley Road in Renfrew, where it was found that those living on the street see average broadband speeds of 1.52Mb. Next up is the village of Colintraive in Argyll. Situated on the scenic Cowal Peninsula, residents here are faced with average internet speeds of just 1.89Mb.
Meanwhile, rounding out the five destinations in Scotland with the lowest internet speeds are Doune Road in Dunblane, near Stirling, and Rhudal Cottages in Drumlemble, near the tip of the Mull of Kintyre. Speeds on the former were found to be 2.32Mb, while residents in Rhudal Cottages see average broadband speeds of 2.50Mb.
On the other hand, the road in Scotland with the fastest broadband speed is Gordon Street in Elgin. According to Broadband Genie, speeds here average 678.73Mb — approximately 754 times faster than those on Turnberry Crescent.
The street with the second fastest internet speeds in the country was found to be Dyke Road in Glasgow’s Garscadden, which sees average speeds of 602.71Mb. In third place according to Broadband Genie is Erracht Road in Inverness. Those living on the street reportedly experience average broadband speeds of 591.05Mb.
Finally, Main Street in Busby – 543.34Mb – and Brimmond View in Aberdeen – 531.28Mb – complete the top five streets in Scotland with the highest internet speeds.

Broadband Genie wrote: “Have you ever wondered which are the slowest streets in the UK? You’re in the right place! Broadband Genie analysed over 207,000 speed tests from up and down the country to bring you the answer.
“You may be surprised that not all are located in the countryside. Some may be closer to your doorstep than you think. A significant number of people suffer with slow broadband and currently, there are 57,000 premises in the UK that can’t receive broadband speeds of at least 10Mb.”
