TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. – The CNX Foundation presented one hundred veterans in Tazewell County with Thanksgiving food boxes at the Veterans Administration Clinic.

The boxes were given out by CNX Resources employees, and about $2,100 worth of turkeys were bought for the project. Volunteers from CNX gave the boxes to the veterans and families on Thanksgiving.

Each box contained a gift certificate for a turkey from Grants, as well as cans of corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, a box of stuffing, a pack of instant mashed potatoes and a jar of turkey gravy.

One volunteer who helped organize the event participated in memory of her late father. Donna Hellas participated in the event last year with her father, a veteran, and when he passed away this year, Hellas said she dedicated this year to him.

“Participating in the Thanksgiving food box presentation for veterans at our local VA Clinic, where my Dad received his healthcare, was a blessing and honor,” Hellas said. “Having shared this experience with my Dad by my side last year, he was there in my heart today.”

CNX Foundation said veterans were selected by the VA Clinic, and a LPN-telehealth nurse was present to help with checking off veterans who picked up their boxes.
