A recent interview on This Morning with adult film star Bonnie Blue has sparked widespread outrage and prompted an Ofcom investigation.
Bonnie Blue, whose real name is Tia Billinger, 25, appeared on the ITV daytime show and openly discussed the explicit content she creates, including ‘barely legal’ videos featuring teenagers, reports the Mirror.
The segment, which aired on November 26, sparked a heated backlash, with 188 viewers lodging complaints with the broadcasting watchdog. Many viewers took to social media to express their outrage, questioning the show’s decision to feature a sex worker on a daytime programme.
One viewer tweeted: “Presumably #thismorning will advise viewers to make sure young children are out of the room for this next segment or do they think interviewing a prostitute at 10:35 is okay for family viewing? #ofcom.”
Another viewer raged: “I’m all for taking the p***, but having this gutter rat on daytime TV for a bit of PR is the pits. Unbelievable #OFCOM #ThisMorning.”
Bonnie Blue’s appearance on the show was seen as promoting her services, leading some to call for Ofcom to take action against ITV for allowing the segment to air.
A disgruntled viewer expressed their anger, saying: “Bonnie Blue uses interviews like this rage bait and gets more views. Shame on #ThisMorning for giving her a platform. I don’t think 18-year-old boys can fully consent to having a video posted online forever, and what about STIs? She is abusing them.”
The Mirror has sought ITV’s comments on the matter.
During her appearance on This Morning, presenter Cat called attention to the fact that Bonnie has been labeled “a predator”, also mentioning her prohibitions from Australia and Fiji due to plans to record explicit content with teenagers.
When questioned about her entry into the industry, Bonnie recounted: “I didn’t know too much about the industry before I started, and it’s as simple as film videos and put it online. I guess that’s how it started.”
She elaborated on leaving her recruitment job to pursue sex work full-time for better income, stating: “It started off as just the money. So I didn’t understand pleasure in sex. I didn’t understand the educational side of things. So yes, it started off purely around money.
“But then as I got into it, and as I educated myself in the industry, not only did I realise how much pleasure I received from it, but also how much there’s a missing gap of educational, you know, content online.”
She firmly maintains that she only has sex with boys who are over 18, remarking: “They’ve had to bring passport, they’ve had to sign consent forms, they’ve had to a breathalyser, right? And then they’re sleeping with someone that educated and understands the industry. So what part of that is unsafe?”
