John Swinney has promised to lift 15,000 kids out of poverty by promising to abolish the two child benefit cap in its Budget.
The move will put Scottish Labour in a difficult situation as Keir Starmer is refusing to lift the curb.
The cap was introduced by the Tories and limits some means-tested benefits to two children.
Labour have continued with the policy, angering many of the party’s own MPs and MSPs.
In her Budget statement, SNP Finance Secretary said many people had expected Labour to abolish the cap, adding they had not.
She said: “The SNP Government will. We will mitigate the two child cap.”
Robison said the Government needs data from the DWP to implement a policy they want up and running in 2026.
She added: “Be in no doubt, the cap will be scrapped.”
She said abolition will lift 15,000 children out of poverty.”
The Scottish Government has already said it will scrap the Labour plan to means-test cuts to the Winter Fuel Payment.
